Therapeutic Interests

Magen is committed to identifying and developing novel products that address unmet needs in major dermatological disorders.  While there are a number of familiar products available in the dermatologist’s armamentarium, there has been a notable lack of innovation.  Historically, many dermatology products have come to exist as byproducts of development efforts in areas outside of dermatology.  However, such products often have properties, such as dermal irritancy or poor skin penetration, that make them less than ideal for dermatology.  In recent years, the majority of dermatology companies have elected to seek the “low lying fruit” of reformulation and combination products.  While this approach has provided a lower risk path to commercialization, it has come at the expense of substantive improvements in patient care.  As such, there is currently a large unmet need for products that act in novel ways to achieve improved efficacy, tolerability, and safety across a range of dermatological conditions. It is Magen's objective to be a pioneer in developing such products.
